Cockroaches are universally known because of their shiny-flat body shape, their filthy habits, repulsive appearance & foul smell. This makes them the most repugnant of all pests. Cockroaches are excellent at hiding, they conceal themselves in the darkest nook & corner of the house at day time. The night is when they crawl out and feast on openly kept food. They consume everything from leather, paper, cloth to even dead bodies of other animals & insects. Because of their narrow & flat body structure, they can run really fast to the crevices in the walls, windows, doors etc. The joints of the wooden boxes, hinges of doors & windows which are not used often, cupboards etc. is where the eggs of these cockroaches dwell. Cockroaches multiply extremely quick as an egg case accommodates 16 to 40 eggs depending on the type and each female roach produces 20 to 40 egg cases in the span of 1 year. There are many varied types of cockroaches but as we reside in India, we mainly have to worry about four species:
Cockroaches emit a foul smell and contaminate our surroundings with their droppings. It is highly hazardous to let them dwell in our homes as most of them breed in drains & sewage pipes. These roaches are responsible for spreading deadly diseases like Typhoid, Cholera, Diarrhea, Tuberculosis etc. Cockroaches not only spoil human food but also damage fabrics, clothes, curtains, books and papers by eating starch & glue. Certain roaches are also responsible for causing asthma.
There are two distinct measures that are taken in controlling the cockroaches- Gel treatment & Disinfestations spray treatment. Gel treatment is an extremely safe & convenient micro dosing treatment which gives long lasting effects whereas Disinfestation includes spraying thick blankets of odorless pesticides in nooks & corners.
